    Learning exerience!
I finally learned how to use a solder sucker this morning by watching the tech that I work with unsolder a circuit board that was attached to the oven test station. This tool makes removing solder much faster....

    My Monday
This is what I am doing right now...

I'm patched into a test station in Mexico so I can watch a product test taking place. I am doing this, because the IT department in Mexico was trying to install a printer on the computer - one thing lead to another and they ended up reinstalling Windows 2000, which wiped out the test station application, webserver, and database. After about a week, I think that I have everything working even through I have never seen this machine and there is no documentation on how it works. Because I have no idea how this equipment is supposed to work, I am taking my best guess since everything looks good so far.

I am also listening to Jack Johnson, "Bubble Toes". I was listening to "Sexy Plexi" but I am not sure what that is about either...

    Me.
I started an introduction to Visual Basic.Net class on Saturday at Hennepin Tech, but that is not why I'm writing. Today I learned about the "ME" keyword in Visual Basic, and I have got to say that Bill Gates is a god.

    Robots can't drive
The Grand Challenge, a DARPA sponsored race across the Mojave, ended today without any winners. No robot made it to the end of the 150 mile course. No robot made it more than 7 miles. See, robots have no self respect. I wouldn't go out like that - I would at least burst into flames.

This week as been the most interesting week of work that I have every had, gossip wise. Here is the skinny....

First, one of the software developers got fired after he got into a shouting match with his boss that ended with the developer clearing his managers desk off the easy way.

Second, both tech writers have put in there two weeks and will be leaving at the same time. So now the group has no tech writers.

Third, rumor is that the guy sitting next to me is getting fired, but he doesn't know it yet.

Four, I get to work with robots!

    What a week I'm having...

Boston Baked Beans, and pound of lobster
Ok so I'm trying to eat a little bit healthier by giving up soda and coffee for breakfast. I have gotten into the habit of get cup of coffee or getting a soda as soon as I walk in to the office. I figure if I don't drink caffeine at work that like 90% of the time that have it so I'll really cut back. Unfortunately, the same day that I decide to eat better, my boss comes back from boston with a pile of candy that is now sitting on my desk: boston baked beans, lobster candy and Pocky. Oh Well, baby steps....

    Hobby Time
Have you ever really thought about screws? Ok, so I'm working on the R/C buggy and the screws are really annoying because they are crappy and keep stripping out. I'm think about ordering a set of stainless steel fastener and a couple of taps so I can clean up this mess. Plus a set of stainless steel or titanium fasteners would be really trick yo.

My other hobby, learning to play guitar is going well too. I'm making slow but steady progress - maybe next year it will be time to upgrade to a Martin guitar. Hmmm...

    Friday into Saturday
SE Stent Load project has been handed off to some other poor schmuck since I couldn't get it done. That pissed some people off, but what can you do. Other people in my group have a lot less on their schedules so the project had to be given to someone else who had more time.

Took the R/C buggy out to the track yesterday to see how she handles and it was awesome. The car was handling the bumps well and it was fast. Then about 2 minutes later I broke the front suspension. Luckily the track has a hobby shop attached, so I bought a new front arm for about $10. Everything was going well until the left drive shaft fell off. I'm not sure where it went but that will be about another $10 to replace that. Afterward, Jason, Scott and I went over to Bench-warmer Bobs to have a couple of beers.

Today was laundry and kitty wash day. It was more of a struggle then usual and that made me sad. Jinkies bit me and that made me sadder. Then a read Amy's sad posts and that makes me even more sad...

What do I do when I'm sad. I'm going shopping.

P.S. Karyn can you pick up an MIT T-shirt or sweater if it isn't too much trouble. Don't go to any trouble, but if you see one...

    FDA Audit
The FDA is in town and everyone is uptight - especially Kelly, who is getting hammered by own internal regulatory affairs. Good for her, she can handle it! I'm keeping my head down by trying to stay out of the building and so far its working.

    R/C Racer
I bought a new toy to replace my Tamiya road car, since the track that I used to go to has closed and moved locations. In the process, the R/C club went to all dirt racing with no capet for the road cars. So, I plan on selling my Tamiya for whatever I can get for it and building this little beauty.
